Welcome to the Dart Angling Association
Dear New Member,
A very warm welcome to the Dart Angling Association.
We are delighted to have you join the club and become part of a long-standing angling community with a shared passion for the River Dart, wild fishing, conservation, and the enjoyment of one of the most beautiful river systems in the country.
Whether you are an experienced river angler or relatively new to fishing the Dart, we hope your membership brings many memorable days on the water and introduces you to the unique character, wildlife, and traditions that make this river so special.
You Are Now Part of the Dart Angling Association
As a member, you are not simply purchasing access to fishing — you are becoming part of the Association itself.
The continued success of the Dart Angling Association relies upon the involvement, support, and observations of its members. Your feedback, river reports, wildlife sightings, catch returns, and general observations are always welcome and genuinely valued by the committee.
Many of the best improvements and ideas within the Association have come directly from members spending time on the riverbank.
Please Take Time to Explore the Website
We strongly encourage all new members to spend some time reading through the Association website, which contains important and regularly updated information including:
- Fishing waters and beat maps
- Access points and parking guidance
- Fishing rules and regulations
- Season dates and permitted methods
- Conservation guidance
- River conditions and updates
- Club news and events
- Membership information
- Catch return procedures

Keeping up to date with the website helps ensure everyone enjoys the river safely, responsibly, and respectfully.
Respect for the River
The River Dart is a remarkable and historic fishery, and we ask all members to help preserve it for future generations by:
Respecting fellow anglers
- Taking litter home
- Closing gates and respecting farmland
- Treating fish carefully, particularly when practicing catch and release
- Reporting pollution or environmental concerns
- Supporting conservation efforts wherever possible
- Wild salmon and sea trout face increasing environmental pressures, and responsible angling has never been more important.
Club Events & Community
Throughout the season the Association may organise:
- Informal fishing gatherings
- Conservation activities
- Meetings and updates
- Riverbank maintenance days
Social events
These are excellent opportunities to meet fellow members, learn more about the river, and contribute to the future of the fishery.
Safety on the River
Please remember that riverbanks can be uneven, slippery, and fast-changing depending on weather and water conditions.
Members fish entirely at their own risk and should always:
- Wear suitable footwear
- Exercise caution when wading
- Check river conditions before travelling
- Carry a mobile phone where possible
- Avoid taking unnecessary risks
We Look Forward to Hearing From You
The Dart Angling Association is strengthened by active and engaged members. If you have suggestions, observations, photographs, conservation concerns, or simply wish to share how you are getting on during the season, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
We hope your membership provides not only excellent fishing, but also a genuine connection with the river and the wider club community.
Tight Lines and Best Wishes for the Season Ahead
