What Makes Sea Trout Special?
Sea trout are simply brown trout that migrate to sea before returning to freshwater to spawn. During this journey:
- They turn a bright silver colour
- Grow stronger and more powerful
- Become far more unpredictable
Locally, they are often called:
- Peal (smaller fish or shoals)
- School peal (juveniles returning later in the season)
- Truff (an older Westcountry term)
